Summary: Fresno COG has updated its demographic forecasts which includes detailed jurisdiction-level forecasts for residential and employment growth and is a critical element of scenario development for the 2026 Regional Transportation Plan and Sustainable Communities Strategy (RTP/SCS).

In preparation for the 2026 RTP/SCS, and in response to significant changes in the field of demographics and economy (e.g. the COVID-19 pandemic and the CA Department of Finance’s downward adjustment of their population projections), staff has developed a draft update to the demographic forecast that incorporates new observed data, projections from various sources, and permit information from local agencies.

The updated report is included for review.

Action: Staff recommends approval of the revised demographic forecast report for use in Fresno COG’s modeling and planning efforts, most notably the 2026 RTP/SCS.

Summary: Fresno County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and the County of Fresno have partnered with TIP Strategies, a leading economic development consulting firm, to prepare a countywide Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for 2025-2030. This strategy will serve as a blueprint to guide our region toward long-term economic vitality, resilience, and growth. Any organization planning to apply for funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) must demonstrate alignment with your region’s CEDS.

As part of this vital planning process, we are seeking input from key stakeholders—individuals and organizations that play pivotal roles in shaping the economic health of Fresno County. Your voice is essential in identifying solutions to our region’s challenges and developing strategies to attract new businesses, retain talent, grow our workforce, and expand existing industries.

Action: Information only. Direction may be provided at the discretion of the Roundtable.

This portion of the meeting is reserved for persons wishing to address the Roundtable on items within its jurisdiction but not on this agenda.

Note:  Prior to action by the Roundtable on any item on this agenda, the public may comment on that item. Unscheduled comments may be limited to 3 minutes.
